Well, here it is. The moment no one has been waiting for....my first movie review!
"Go Starmummy! It's your birthday! Shake your booty!" I really am shaking my booty right now, I swear.
I thought long and hard about what the first film I reviewed should be. After seconds of laborious contemplation, I chose the classic 80s Exploitation flick Savage Streets. Why Savage Streets you ask? Simple, I just watched it last night.
Savage Streets, directed by Danny Steinmann (Friday the 13th: A New Beginning), stars Linda Blair (The Exorcist) as a teenager out for revenge against a group of thugs who raped her deaf sister (Linnea Quigley from Return of the Living Dead) and killed her friend (some girl I've never seen before but reminded me of the bass player for the Bangles).
That's really all you need to know about the film to decide whether it's your cup of tea or not. Well unless you are interested in nudity, blood and profanity because its got plenty of those as well. This movie is fresh, vulgar and definitely doesn't hold back. Just as it starts getting a little cheesy or melodramatic, next thing you know there is a catfight breaking out in the girl's locker room or a student saying Fuck You to the principal.
The new 2 disc release from BCI is pretty sweet with interviews and 3 optional commentaries. This film definitely isn't for everyone but after reading this review you should be able to tell which side of the fence you are on.
